Operation of a Hydroelectric Power Station

How a Hydroelectric power Station Works A hydroelectric power plant is a power station which produces electrical energy from the energy stored in water at certain heights, with the use of a turbine which is mechanically coupled to a generator.  So water is the primary source of energy in this type of power plant. In order to understand the conversion process, we shall chronologically study the different components and their role in the conversion process. The diagram below is a schematic diagram of a hydroelectric power plant. Layout of a hydroelectric power plant

Download Schemaplic Software

Schemaplic Schemaplic is a software used in Designing and simulation of electrical diagrams It is used in the field of electrical systems(Electrotechnical, Electromechanical, Energetics) and also pneumatic systems. This software has diverse features of component libraries having all essential components included. It also gives the characteristics of Each component. Due to its flexibility, the properties of components can be modified and customized to suit your design. It also contains a picture mode which displays the picture of each selected component. This picture mode can be activated or deactivated. The simulations can be saved, printed, or exported. It displays Faulty connections warnings. It also has Application exercises which are included in exercise libraries. This is one of the best softwares used in simulating electrical diagrams. There is the free version and the paid version. Pyrolysis and pyrolysis reactor in Renewable energy

What is Pyrolysis Pyrolysis is the thermal decomposition of biomass in the absence of oxygen. It comes from the Greek terms “pyro” which means fire and “lysis” which means separating or solution. So, this process is a thermochemical process. It can also be regarded as a carbonization process where the thermal decomposition of organic material of high molecular weight produces solid residue of high carbon content and or some volatile products. The products obtained during pyrolysis of biomass are biochar, bio-oil and syngas (synthesis gas). It is important to note that this process is temperature dependent. So, the production of various products depends on the temperature range. At high temperatures, the molecules are subject to high molecular vibration which causes the molecules to break down into smaller molecules. Pyrolysis Products at various temperature ranges Pyrolysis occurs at temperature ranges of about 350°C-800°C. Pyrolysis at lower temperatures produces solid, an

Generation of Electricity from Biomass - Electrical energy from Biomass, combustion, gassification

GENERATION OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY FROM BIOMASS 1.1. INTRODUCTION Energy is the most vital issue for all living-being on earth. Modern life style has further increased its importance since a faster life means a faster transport, faster communication, faster manufacturing processes etc. All these lead to an increase in energy required for all these modern systems. These energy come from different sources and one of these sources is the biomass or biofuel energy production (generation) source. 1.2. DEFINITION OF BIOMASS Biomass or Biofuel is a fuel that is developed from organic materials, renewable and sustainable source of energy used to generate electricity or other forms of energy. It is the organic material that is used for the production of energy known as biomass . 1.3. DESCRIPTION  OF BIOMASS The biomass plant is a renewable source of energy because wastes residues will always exist be it in terms of scrap wood, forest resources, manure etc...Developing new
